This guy has researched the history and lore of fiddle tunes. Find interesting stories and quotes about tunes, alternate names for the same tunes, where they may have originated etc.
Brown University hosted listserv (e-mail) discussion group, where there you can always learn something. Discussions of things common to all fiddlers and obscure things as well.
