For nearly 15 years, I have been sharing my ideas and observations with students and have found great satisfaction in helping people along in their process-- or starting them off from scratch! I really value the chance to share what I have learned along the way, and my main goal is that students enjoy and appreciate the art of violin playing.
I draw from my experience as a performer in many styles, using my classical training (B.A. in music at Macalester College) and some Suzuki concepts, too. In addition, I have a strong interest in ergonomics and how to best cooperate with the body while making music, which is inspired and informed by Alexander Technique and Yoga.
I have taught at music schools including MacPhail Center for Music, City of Lakes Waldorf School, Chicago Waldorf School, and East Metro Music Academy. And I have taught workshops frequently, including at the University of Denver, DePaul Community Music School, Rockford Music Academy, Oshkosh Suzuki Music Program, North House Folk School, Shattuck-St Mary's School, and many more.
I currently teach at my home studio in South Minneapolis and lessons are $100 per month, flat rate.
